Have you been wanting to be more effective in your workday? Have you been growing tired of your lifeless routine? Then this post is for you!

You should not be a slave to your routine. Your routine should create freedom for you and I have created a little series that I will help you create that life-giving routine.

Today I am going to share about how to implement your new routine! If this is the first post you are reading in these series I've linked below to the other posts for your convince!

1. How to create your unique routine

2. How to create an efficient routine

3. How to Implement a New routine

So now you have all the new things you want to put into your days, the times you will be working, and a plan of action for how you can stay focused now all you have to do is well . . . do it!

But as you probably know, creating new habits is just hard. No way around it. However, there are a few things you can do to help implement this new routine and sick to it!

#1 Start off by only changing 2-3 new habits per week.

Then once you have that down pat add another 2 new things.

Back to Fiona

For her new Ideal schedule, she wants to wake up at 6:30 am, drink her coffee slow while reading a book, make a healthy breakfast, workout, and clean the house and all before she starts work at 8:30 am. But Fiona's normal routine includes none of these things.

If she tried to add all of these things at once, she would be setting herself up for failure.

As Fiona's friend, I would lovingly recommend that she start with getting up at 6:30 am and starting work at 8:30 am. She can obviously try to include the other things but for the first week or two, but getting up and getting to work on time are her main goals. Once that habit is established, she can implement two more!

#2 Curb your bad habits

Once you start implementing you might notice that some habits aren't sticking. In that case, you need to figure out what is triggering your bad habit. After you figure out what it is, then replace the trigger with something else.

Fiona has been waking up and getting to work on time and even has been eating a healthy breakfast and drinking her coffee slow. She's been consistent with these habits for over a month but since she has been trying to establish the habit of working out she's been failing . . . miserably.

She asked for my advice, and I told her the trigger tip that I just told you. And she realized, every day when she finishes her coffee she pulls out her phone and starts mindlessly scrolling Instagram! She always tells herself that it will only be for a couple minute but before she knows it has been a half hour and now she doesn't have enough time to work out.

So now she has set a rule for herself of no Instagram before 8 am. So when she is done with her coffee instead of opening the app she puts on her workout playlist and leaves her phone in the other room while she changes into her running clothes.

All Fiona had to do was figure out what was triggering her bad habit and replace it.

Once you have your whole routine in place don't be afraid to take time to reflect on what is working and what isn't! You aren't a slave to your routine rather it should bring you freedom!
