Bride to Bride is an series where I interview my brides about their wedding experience! Shannon + Cory Got married in the middle of summer at the Laguna Cliffs Mariot on a beautiful sunny day. Their intimate wedding, that overlooked Dana Point Harbor, was so lovely and one of my favorite from this year.
What is one of your favorite memories from the wedding day?
Just one?! I loved the first look with my dad, Cory's first look when I was walking down the aisle, dancing the night away with my closest friends and family....and my sister forgetting about the napkin tucked into her belt as she stood to give her maid of honor speech (LOL)!
If you could go back, is there anything you wish you would have done differently?
I would have spent a little more for a better experienced day-of coordinator.
If you could give one piece of advice to another bride, what would it be?
Remember that most of the details will NOT matter the day after. With every decor item I purchased, I asked whether I would be able to use it again or give it as a gift to someone who was a part of my wedding. No one cares what kind of table numbers or escort cards you have, but they do care about what you're feeding them.
Really consider what is an important investment for your wedding. For me, it was the dress, food and drink, photo/video. I've heard horror stories about brides who invested more in flowers (which die pretty quickly) than they did in photography and were very unhappy with the results. I also think what made our wedding work so well, was that it wasn't over-produced; short and sweet ceremony, traditional dances and speeches, cut the cake, then dancing.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Make your day a reflection of you, your fiance, and your relationship - not about the most recent trend. Your wedding day is a wonderful moment, but you are preparing for a lifetime partnership, not just a great party.
