I see all you wedding vendors out there, depending on photographers to get images of your work. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to wait on others for these images so you can use it for your social media! I mean I find it difficult enough to curate my own Instagram feed and I am a photographer!!!
And this task is made even more difficult because you are forced to work with images that have different photography styles!
Here are 5 tips to help you overcome this challenge and give you an Instagram feed that will represent your business and help you book the clients of your dreams.
1. Get organized
You might be tempted to skip this step because it seems tedious but it will make all the difference when it comes to making a feed look cohesive! I recommend labeling your images by color and by type of photo. I label all of my images by the kind of image it is – Wedding, personal, lifestyle, travel – so I can easily find the image I want to include in my feed. Saving me time and frustration.

2. Choose a color pallet
Choose one or two general colors or tones to feature on your feed at a time. It can always stay the same or can change with the seasons but this will be the bread and butter of making your feed look cohesive. If the colors all go together the varying photography styles can work with one another rather than against one another. This is why your images need to be categorized by type of image and by color!
3. Utilize white space
Images that have mostly white or a neutral tone will help your feed feel fresh and cohesive. These types of images can be used anytime and act as a buffer between more dramatic style changes.
That is because photography editing styles are often less noticeable in an image that is white or mostly neutral!
4. Use a planning app
There are tons out there that are amazing so do some research and take your pick. I use Later and really like it.
I never post more than 30 images a month so I get to use it for free which is great! I’m not saying you have to use Later but be sure to choose a scheduling app that allows you to do two things:
Label your images + gives a preview your images in a grid.
This will enable you to easily label and then find those images later, and effortlessly currate your feed!
If I knew I wanted to post a image from an engagement session all I need to do is click that label and only those images pop up.
If you had chosen blue as your current feed color pallet then all you would have to do is choose the blue label and immediately those images would be at your finger tips!
The second vital feature is the feed preview. That way you can see what all of your post will look like together and make adjustments as needed.
I try to mix up my close and wide shots by not having too many wide images on top of other wide ones and vice versa. I really would not be able to figure that out without this feature!
With Later you can even move the posts around in the preview!
5. Think about choosing one style based on your ideal client
If you scrounging to get images of your work, this may not be something you can do right now. But it is something to consider for the future.
Is your ideal client the type of bride that wants moody images and bohemian florals? Or does she value soft and timeless images with romantic and loose blooms?
If she is in one of these camps it might be a good idea to set this limitation for yourself. This way you are catering to your bride specifically and not every bride out there.
