Nate was the older brother of her childhood best friend. Jonai always had googly eyes for him and as she grew up Nate became her standard to measure other guys against. After high school, when Nicole, Jonai’s best friend, and Nate’s sister, went off to college the two of them started hanging out on their own. Like turned into love, and Jonai’s girlhood fantasy became reality. It was better than she could have ever imagined.
Their wedding was two years ago and one of the most heartfelt yet fun weddings I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. I’ll never forget Nicole’s speech. At that moment I was very very thankful autofocus existed because I was a sobbing mess behind my camera and could hardly see a thing.
This is the fourth year in a row I’ve had the pleasure of taking their photos and it always a pleasure! They are playfully and passionately in love and it had been an honor to tell their story! The morning of our session started out foggy and I was dying because I felt like we were in Pride and Prejudice! The sun came out soon, which we were very happy about because these socal natives are not used to the cold! As always, I was so thankful for their adventurous spirits as we clambered up hills, stood on rocks in the river and frolicked around!
Nate and Jonai, I treasure you two. Thank you for letting me tell your story. It is always a joy to spend time with you!
