One of the biggest things I love about being a wedding photographer is the stories. Each couple has one. And I love meeting with newly engaged couples for the first time and listening to the “long version” over coffee. I love all of the little details and like what they were thinking, who made the first move, and all that good stuff. I seriously cannot get enough of it. Often at the end of these coffee dates, my couple’s will ask, “what about you?”. So I decided it was time to share the story of how Kyle and I fell in love too. All the way from “hello” to “I do”.
The summer flew by. A couple weeks before the semester started, the relationship I was in ended. I was ready for a new fresh start and for a season of absolutely NO guys. I was finally getting the hang of that time management thing and wanted no distractions. I was particularly excited about the on-campus job I had at SMU, training leaders of short-term missions trips. As a freshman, I had gone on a trip and as a sophomore, I co-lead one, so as a junior I was ready to share what I had learned. I had two pairs of leaders assigned to me and Kyle and his co-leader were one of them.
Again, there I thought nothing about Kyle other than I was excited to help him and his co-leader, Tori have the best trip possible. I was technically his boss after all. But we were about to spend a whole lot of time together. A weekly class with all the leaders, a weekly meeting with him and Tori, group training and activities, weekend retreats, and not to mention all the time in the office. Because of all of this time the ladies and gents would be spending together, it was only natural that SMU had a no dating policy.
Which was totally fine with me, because I was NOT looking for another relationship.
The first photo I ever took of Kyle! Also, he’s standing with our friend Karl!
Me and my good friend Kourtney Jackson before seeing Bon Iver in concert!
