When I met Kelly I was a freshman and he was a graduate student. He was co-leading a short term mission trip to Nepal and I was on the team. After one of our first meetings I remember him telling me about his photographer girlfriend. While giving me the scoup he pulled out his phone to show me photos of her and everything. He was really excited.
Four years later a girlfriend and I were chatting over coffee, I mentioned this and she said she knew of a great photographer! She and Michelle that she use to go to church with and we pulled her up on Instagram. As I scrolled through her images I thought to myself, she looks so familiar… then I found a photo of her and her husband it all clicked. Michelle and Kelly. Of course, Michelle was the photographer girlfriend of my leader from freshman year of college. I immediately emailed her asking about her internship program. Not too long after that, I was Michelle’s intern.
Flash forward four more years, (aka now) and I had the joy of photographing the two of them for the first time! And it was such a blast. If it wasn’t for Michelle’s investment in me, I would not be the photogrpaher I am today. While I was in their apartment every week learning about photography, I also got to see real-life Kelly and Michelle. I didn’t just learn about photography. I learned what it looked like for a couple to be dedicated to loving one another. What it looked like to strive to create a beautiful thriving marriage.
Kelly + Michelle’s Portrait session at El Matador Beach in Malibu was just so stunning. The rock jutting out of the sand, and the beautiful open beaches were the perfect backdrop to tell their story.
Thank you Michelle + Kelly for letting me capture your love!
