How they Met
The host laid out a feast of finger food, stocked the fridge with beverages and turned on the TV. It was Superbowl Sunday and two kinds of anticipation filled the air. Both life-changing depending in some sense. The first for the players in the game. The second for the party goers. The main difference was that the football players knew the greatness that was in reach. But the partygoers had no idea in their midst an even greater moment was about to occur. Their friends were about to meet the love of their life.
Chelsea arrived at the Superbowl party to find that she, a 49ners fan, had one ally. His name was James and since it was just the two of them cheering on the 49ners the quickly bonded. Being witty and charming, Chelsea didn’t mind having him on her team either. But she didn’t think anything of him because a guy that great had to already have a girlfriend. So she just enjoyed trash talking the other team with him.
Even after the Superbowl party ended, their love of sports continued to bring them together. It was refreshing for them to find someone that was just as competitive. Cheering for the teams when rooting the same team and trash talking when rooting for different ones. Chelsea and James loved this banter. Soon this friendship turned into more and they quickly realized this was different.
Early into their relationship, James even turned down a big promotion that would have moved across the country and away from Chelsea. At the time he didn’t admit that this was the reason but deep down he knew that he had found someone he could spend the rest of his life with. And not too long after he started planning to make that a reality.
The whole family had gathered in Lake Tahoe for Chelsea’s mom’s, Karen, birthday celebration. But Karen, Ted (Chelsea’s Dad), and James had been scheming and the weekend would be more than just a birthday celebration. Lake Tahoe looked like a winter postcard as they hiked down to Emerald Bay. They laughed the whole way down as they slipped around in the snow. So when Chelsea turned to see James kneeling down on one knee she thought that he had merely slipped. But the intentionality of it was made clear as he pulled out the ring and asked her to be his wife.
The Wedding Day
Their wedding day was celebrated entirely on the Presidio just down the street from where they’ve lived the last couple of years. The day was sunning with a cool sea breeze. And everything was perfect. From their classic yet modern decor at the St. Francis Yacht Club with a view of the golden gate bridge to their meaningful ceremony, to the hilarious and sweet speeches, they had the fun and beautiful day they had dreamed of.
Thank you Chelsea + James for allowing me the wonderful privilege of documenting your beautiful wedding day. You two are such a lovely couple and it meant to the world to me to be by your side on such a big day.
