Melissa and Will (and their families) hold a special place in my heart. It isn’t just because their wedding at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum was beautiful, even though it was. But it is something deeper that is more difficult to explain. Melissa and her family have a knack for making people feel at home. It is the theme and heartbeat of their family. Will shared in his vows about how Melissa did this for him. Will’s sisters talked about how Melissa’s family made them feel this way too. Ashleymae, the maid of honor and my past bride (and her mama) have been unofficially adopted into their family. And whether it was intentional or not, they have done this for me too. I felt like more than just a photographer but like they have really invited me into their lives so I can tell their stories (cue the tears).
The day was as beautiful aesthetically as it was beautifully meaningful. Melissa and Will worked hard to create a wedding day that reflected them and it did. Yet on the day of the wedding, their desire was to simply soak it all in.
This couple and this family made me fall even more in love with what I do.
