I woke up and rolled over to say hello to Kyle and nothing came out of my mouth. I cleared my throat tried again, and still nothing. My voice was completely gone. Earlier in the week, I had caught a pretty bad cold but had intentionally rested so I would be ready for Sam and Kelley’s wedding that weekend. The idea that I might lose my voice completely never occurred to me.
But a lot of lemon and honey in hot water, and a little bit of prayer later, I had a somewhat audible smokey sounding voice when I arrived at Terranea Resort to start photographing. I was positive I would be able to make it work no matter what but guys, Sam and Kelley and their bridal party were angels. They were all on time for everything and when they found out I had no voice they were so down for team huddles so they could hear my instructions. One of the groomsmen even got the attention of all of the wedding guests for me for a group photo. The day even ran ahead of schedule. If I was going to not be able to talk on a wedding day this for sure was the perfect one because everyone was so kind!
Sam + Kelley’s wedding day went off without a hitch and it was just stunning. It was a perfect warm but not too warm summer day. The light beaming through the glass windows of the Wayfarers Chapel was simply dreamy! They specifically chose the chapel because it was designed by the son of their favorite architect. How cool are they to have a favorite architect?! I always do everything I can so my couples can be present and soak in each moment of the day and these two really had a stressfree experience. It was awesome and such a treat to share it with them.
